Academic All Conference Red Raider team
To emphasize the importance of academics in the athletic program the South Point athletic department established the South Point Academic All Conference Red Raider team. This team recognizes those who were All Conference in their sport but who have also maintained high academic standing during their sports season. Two teams are recognized each year: one for the fall sports season and one for the winter and spring sports season. During the spring sports banquet held on Tuesday, May 26th South Point recognized the Academic All Conference team for the 2014 fall sports season.
To receive this award the scholar athlete must be named an All Conference player; maintain a 3.5 unweighted grade point average during that sports semester; incur no infractions; and have no more than 5 excused absences.
Those recognized were:
Kayla Karr - a senior who was All Conference in volleyball. Her parents are John and Beverly Karr. She plans to attend UNC Charlotte in the fall.
Morgan Mahaffey - a senior who was All Conference in cross country. Her parents are Mike and Terry Mahaffey. She plans to attend Tusculum College in the fall.
Grace Russell - a junior who was All Conference in cross country. Her parents are John and Erin Russell.
Samantha Telsrow - a senior who was All Conference in ladies golf. She plans to attend Montreat College in the fall.
Aurora Ziemer - a sophomore who was All Conference in cross country. She is the daughter of Brian and Kay Ziemer.
